An email from TNDP Chairman Chip Forrester:

In running for Chair I had a clear fundraising plan to ensure that we’d be able to do what it will take to win back the house in 2010.

That plan consisted of a 2-pronged effort: a) a small-donor plan to bring in grassroots supporters from across the state expanding out base and enlarging the Party and, b) a high-donor plan to bring our strong Democratic contributor base into the 2009-10 funding cycle.

I took my first week on the job (last week) to get the office set up and began my Fundraising Call Program today. I’m happy to report that since the small-donor program began this past weekend and on my first day of high-dollar donor calls I’ve raised in excess of $15,000.

I want to continue the effort of bringing everyone into the Party and ask those of you who have not participated in the past to join me now. It is easy. Just go to www.tndp.org and contribute, $5, $10, $15, $20, $25 or whatever is most comfortable for you. Just make the commitment to participate

I’ll keep you apprised of how this effort continues with reports from time to time.

recurring payments not an option

Somebody please tell Chip to get that set up so a person can do recurring payments. They are missing a great opportunity with this if it is legal in TN.

It is definitely legal in

It is definitely legal in TN. We set up an ActBlue account in our case - a recurring monthly contribution in a pre-set amount - for the local party last year. I'm pretty sure the TNDP has that mechanism set up as well (in fact, Forrester's numbers may actually reflect those future payments). I hope he was talking about smaller donors, but it looks like that was a "gross figure" of all contributions. Folks might be taking a "wait and see" attitude with him.

ActBlue

Well, Don it is good news if ActBlue will now set up accounts at the local party level. They still won't/can't set up accounts for local candidates.

When I did the contribution this morning I was not presented with the choice for recurring payments. Somebody better get that fixed....

Not to throw cold water on

Not to throw cold water on Chip's parade, but if he spent an entire day talking to high dollar donors and only raised $15k, he's got a hill to climb.

maybe

Maybe we should dig into our pockets and give a little. Or if you one of the high dollar donors time to get you check book out.
