Well, today I did my final pre-operative visit with my surgeon's office and then went over to the hospital and did the pre-operative testing visit there. Didn't really do much at all the whole day, but totally crashed out when we got home. The funny thing is, there wasn't much at all that was asked of me except to sit still while they drew blood and did an EKG and all that medical stuff; but, man, am I tired. Oh yeah, I did answer more questions than a steroidal baseball player in front of Congress...
And we did fill out about 40 million forms and papers...killing only 5 million trees in the process. Oh well...
This time next week, the whole world changes for me. Goodbye cheesecake......goodbye chocolate...farewell biscuits and gravy...waahhhhhhhhh!
Not really...I don't think I will miss them...they are the bad old friends that got me into all kinds of trouble.
I think I'll be happier with my new friends...
Maybe in a year I'll post some before and after pics. But I'll have to go shopping first.

Hospitals make me anxious no
Hospitals make me anxious no matter why I am visiting. Anxiety exhausts me. Hospitals do great work. It can be a very rewarding experience. I worked at UT Hospital for nearly 5 years. One thing I learned while walking through the halls, don't look through doorways. Who knows what you might see.
Best wishes!

In the early 1980's I went to the UT hospital library off and on for a month or so and as I was walking down the hall to the library as I passed a room I just glanced through the open door and saw someone looking at a human arm mounted in some edge of table vise like device. I will never forget it.
Sounds like bypass surgery?
Sounds like bypass surgery? Good luck!
I hope your procedure goes well
for you, and I agree with you about being around hospitals wearing us out.
All the Best!
Here's hoping your surgery and your recovery are uneventful and easy!

Yeah, let us know how it turns out. All the best to you.
I am having...
a roux-en-y gastric bypass. Hopefully they will be able to do it laproscopically, but if not it will be an open procedure. I'm happy, thrilled, and scared to death all at the same time...I used to ride rollercoasters to feel this way. In a year or so, I figure I'll have to take to jumping off bridges over deep gorges with rubber bands strapped to my ankles to get the same adrenaline rush...but at least the bungee cord won't break...I hope. LOL

Yepper...I am...
Sooooooooooo right there. For years I have tried starving myself...nothing seems to work. I took those pills (Phen-Fen) and everything. This is radical surgery, but I'm hoping that I will finally have a life...without this, I know I won't...
So even though I am scared witless in the middle of the night thinking about it, I'm going to do it anyway...because not doing it means I'll die young anyway.
