Trump "allies" w/ Pelosi as HouseDemCaucus attacks progressives

(this morning) @realDonaldTrump:

So interesting to see “Progressive” Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly......
....and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run. Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how....
...it is done. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!

this comes as @TimBurchett tweets last week about sharing a friendly fist bump with Pelosi in support of her punching back against criticism from the left (re: liberal dems caving on a vote approving funding concentration camps without even adding protections for migrants)

subsequently the official House Dem Caucus twitter account on friday launched a deliberate attack (cynically employing racial identity politics) on AOC's chief of staff, referencing a two week old tweet he made criticizing a House Dem for voting for the funding: (link...) this attack was then retweeted by Pelosi's chief of staff.

Jeet Heer sums it up nicely, responding to Paul Blest's tweet:
@HeerJeet:

This is 100% true. For Pelosi, AOC & her staff are the true enemies, Trump merely a foil they can use to raise money.

@pblest:

The Democratic leadership is 1000% more focused on getting Chakrabarti fired—just so they can say they broke Ocasio-Cortez—than they were about investigating Alex Acosta or E. Jean Carroll’s rape allegation against Trump. This shit is incredibly fucking embarrassing.

Pelosi responds

Pelosi, of course, tweeted a boilerplate response rejecting Trump's xenophobic attack on the members of congress [who her own functionaries spent the last days attacking].

good tweet responding to the week's events from @MatthewSitman (asst editor at liberal Catholic magazine Commonweal & cohost of excellent new podcast examining the conservative movement @KnowYrEnemyPod):

It'd be one thing if establishment/centrist Democrats were brilliant Machiavellians who excelled at winning and wielding political power. But, um, these are the people who lost to Trump, let the GOP dominate state politics, and have been in a defensive posture for 30 years.

What does any of this have to

What does any of this have to do with Hagerty running for senate?

Just wondering

Just wondering. Did you vote for Clinton in 2016?

Alex_Falk's picture

yes

yes i did -- even in solid red TN!

but i bet that (if you'd like) you could come up with a number of other ways to contextualize criticism of party leadership as "helping trump"

[unless i totally misunderstood your comment]
