Oxford comma or not? The nerdiest dispute ever plays out in court

And not for the first time. Commas have a long history of causing trouble.

Were it not for the comma

If it weren't for the Oxford comma, we'd have an ambiguous sentence like this:

"We invited the strippers, Churchill and Stalin."

There is no comma

There is no comma in the Tennessee constitution where it allows regulation of arms with a view to prevent crime. It could mean several things, yet I've never seen the ruling quoted that defines it.
