We finally made it to the Kern's Food Hall. It was a bit better than we expected. Nicely refurbed inside. Liked the event lawn. People were watching a baseball game. Made me want to watch baseball.
The variety of food is intriguing. We look forward to the cuban (Hemingways) and pizza (Ava Italian) restaurants. We got donuts at Richy Kreme and coffee and a breakfast bite at Awaken Coffee.
We browsed through Archer Paper Goods and Mae Lee's Boutique. Didn't see Mellow Knox or we would have visited. Loved Archer Paper Goods. Well done.
There were quite a few customers there, from entire families to singles. We were there around noon and the brew pub and bar already had customers.
Parking was easily accessible, flat, and paved. We lucked into a spot right at the entrance. Currently there is no traffic light to get out of the area. You can easily turn right, but you are taking your chances to turn left to go South on Chapman Hwy. We did it, but a little dangerous. It is my understanding they will eventually have access to the light just south of the facility.

It appears to me that they will still charge for parking if you don't make a purchase.
"While it was not directly stated on Thursday, it seems that those who park at Kern’s and do not make a purchase may still be subject to parking fees through Metropolis."
They are using Metropolis for parking management. Sheesh. What could go wrong? As possibly mentioned before, we had a problem with the Metropolis parking downtown where we already had a Metropolis account. We pulled into a garage we tried to sign up for the parking but it wouldn't let us add a second license tag, thus it tried to charge us for a car that we weren't driving that day and would never leave the garage that day. We pulled out of the garage and went to another garage and all was ok. However, we had to contact the company to get the 1st garage parking fees removed. Not all that user friendly.
Then, getting your parking ticket validated. Bleah. Will it be remembered? Will I have to return to get it validated? Is there a minimum purchase? Yada yada yada...
Discrimination?
So only people who have smart phones or remember to bring them can park at Kerns? And those who want their privacy invaded by an app. This feels dystopian.
I was there last week and just backed into the space. I was relieved when I heard the first 2 hours are free.
I wasn't about to participate in a convoluted song and dance.
I don't understand not charging for game day parking. Post someone at the entrance to collect money like all the other businesses and give tickets that include a couple of $5 coupons for food vendors. That's my old school solution.
The way it stands now discriminates against geezers , luddites, and the tech challenged.
Exactly.
