If you bought an iPhone in 2016 or earlier, you may need a new battery.

It [Apple] got caught in December slowing iPhones with worn-out batteries — a move, it says, that keeps the phones from unexpectedly shutting down. If you always suspected your old iPhone was getting slower, you were right.

Recently, Apple dropped the price of a replacement battery from $79 to $29. The lower price is supposed to extend throughout 2018. Anyone with an iPhone 6 or newer (iPhone 6, 6s, SE or 7) is eligible for the $29 replacement.

The demand may be high so you should get in line if you want/need a new battery.
