According to the article, seven people were indicted for trafficking thousands of pounds of marijuana over a period of 11 years, including Scott and Mike West and both their wives, a Newport man with prior felony drug convictions, and two other unnamed defendants. WBIR files this report, and has obtained this copy of the indictment, which states that the federal government "seeks the forfeiture of currency, numerous bank accounts, securities, and several parcels of real property, including three buildings located in Market Square Mall in downtown Knoxville, residences in Tennessee and North Carolina, and property in Hawaii." According to the indictment, defendants face a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years on the drug charges, and up to 20 years on the money laundering charges.
