The Knoxville News Sentinel has its first round of endorsements for County Commission today. Tom Salter, Amy Broyles, and Elaine Davis all received endorsements. Curiously, the KNS endorsed a couple of term-limited commissioners.

Today's KNS also has a nice, 32 page Voter Guide insert, with profiles of local Knox County and state candidates, articles on key races, and more. The online version is here.

KNS voter guide

The voter guide is nice if you can get by the subhead on the front page, which says in all CAPS:

WILL TENNESSEE's NEXT U.S. SENATOR BE THE FORMER CHATTANOOGA MAYOR AND MILLIONAIRE BUSINESSMAN? ... OR AN EAST-COAST EDUCATED BLACK DEMOCRAT, A CONGRESSMAN FROM MEMPHIS TRYING TO BECOME THE FIRST BLACK ELECTED SENATOR IN A RED STATE ... OR WILL VOTERS FAVOR ONE OF TWO FORMER REPUBLICAN CONGRESSMEN WHO SAY THEY'RE THE RIGHT CONSERVATIVE FIT FOR TENNESSEE?

Particularly nice how they worked "BLACK" in there twice.

Translation: "Y'all ain't gonna vote for that Nee-gro from Washingtno DC or them two also-rans, is you?"
