If it wasn't so sad it would be amusing. I have never seen a blog with so little substance. It is almost like having a conversation with your pet rock. I actually feel sorry for the poor bastard.

Moocat, my own opinion of Hornback isn't based on his "perceived faults" so much as it is based on the public record he left behind. In some of his past actions that immediately come to mind, ask yourself these questions:

1) As party chair, why should Hornback's unspeakably roughshod "takeover" of his political party's headquarters have ultimately resulted in the personal enrichment of "office volunteers" Adam Groves and Tyler Harber, while the party treasury went bust? Don't take my word for it--read the campaign finance disclosures of GOP candidates who ran for office during his tenure, and see who they paid to do so.

2) As party chair, why should Hornback, Groves, and Harber have actively supported, advised in, (and in the case of Groves and Harber, made money from) the illegal campaign of 3rd district school board candidate Jeff Byrd? Don't take my word for it, read Byrd's qualifying petition, his financial disclosures, and the two lawsuits his candidacy spurred.

3) As a school board member, why should Hornback have actively campaigned for commissioners to enact a local ordinance to elect the superintendent of schools in Knox County, given that it would have been against state law and would have resulted in one or more very expensive lawsuits against the county (per the county law director's admonishment)?

And if you followed that one, why did those two Powell-area petition organizers, Margaret Massey-Cox and Jane Buckner, neighbors in Powell's Broadacres subdivision, not approach their own Commissioner Larry Stephens, who also lived in their Broadacres subdivision? Ever wonder why Hornback's Farragut neighbor, Commissioner John Griess, was the one who introduced and pushed to adopt the goal of that Powell-led effort? Don't take my word for it, just read the Commission minutes--and maybe some archived N-S stories.

4) As a school board member, why should Hornback have clamored for an audit of Lindsey's credit card, then the very next month, dragged along to a school-related convention his wife, who charged her Knox County school employer with sick days to allow her attendence? That one is in the N-S archives, too, somewhere.

Anyway, that's just a smattering of incidents leading to my "perceptions" of the man. You could do some digging of the sort I point to here, or write me off-list and I'll mail you a plethora of photocopies. (But personally, I'd suggest you just find another hero.)
