Let's enjoy the moment.

First Democratic Party US Senator from Alabama since 1990, nearly 30 years. However, keep in mind Tennessee's last Democratic Party US Senator was in 1995, 22 years.

In Alabama, 1,344,406 people came out to vote in this interim election. More than 1.3 million of Alabama's 3.3 million voters participated for a turnout of 40.4 percent, according to unofficial results from [Secretary of State John] Merrill's office.

Trump congratulates Doug Jones via Twitter.

Congratulations to Doug Jones on a hard fought victory. The write-in votes played a very big factor, but a win is a win. The people of Alabama are great, and the Republicans will have another shot at this seat in a very short period of time. It never ends!

There were 22,819 write-ins out of the 1,344,406 votes cast, 1.7%. Doug Jones won by 20,715 votes. I don't see how write-ins played a very big factor, but whatever. Exit polls indicated there were a lot of write-ins for Nick Saban. Can't say I agree with Trump, but that is nothing new.

Washington Post exit polls. It would appear black voters got out the vote and won this race. White women in Alabama still support Moore, 52% white college graduate women and 73% of white non-college graduate women.

Again, Washington Post
, check out the map. Twelve counties flipped from red in 2016 presidential election to blue for the US senate race.

I was more than relieved at the outcome. Still, nearly half the voters supported a dangerous man. Not that he's been anything else in his political career.
And yes, every win in this battle (or various battles, really, given all of Moore's offenses) counts. The GOP backers should be not only ashamed, but replaced.
