As reported in the KNS Tuesday, Tennessee ranks 42nd on the new Happiness (actually Well-Being) Index.

You have to love surveys and statistics. Will TN society change so we become more happy? Will we just get depressed and blame it on attention deficit disorder? Did they get names of survey respondents from the Wal-Mart and Cracker Barrel customer lists? Not that there is any thing wrong with that.

Tennessee's ranking is brought down due to physical health and emotional health. The work quality index comes in for TN at 19. Great, huh? How can our emotional health be so bad (44th out of 50) and our work quality be good (19th out of 50)?

South Carolina ranks 26th to Tennessee's 42nd, out of 50. Say what? Interesting, though, SC lowest index is for the Basics (food, water, shelter, healthcare). Thus, it's great to live in SC if you are successful. If you are down on your luck you better move to TN.

Of the top 20 states in well-being, according to this survey, I might consider living in 4 of them. California only if I was rich. Arizona and New Mexico only if I could afford to travel east regularly. Then there is Virginia. More research required, don't know if I could afford it and don't know the weather. If you can't tell, I like it warm.
