He was 94 years old.

From the Obama's,

America has lost a patriot and humble servant in George Herbert Walker Bush," Obama said. "While our hearts are heavy today, they are also filled with gratitude. Not merely for the years he spent as our forty-first President, but for the more than 70 years he spent in devoted service to the country he loved – from a decorated Naval aviator who nearly gave his life in World War II, to Commander-in-Chief of our Armed Forces, with plenty of posts along the way. Ambassador to the United Nations. Director of Central Intelligence. U.S. Envoy to China. Vice President of the United States.

"George H.W. Bush’s life is a testament to the notion that public service is a noble, joyous calling. And he did tremendous good along the journey,

Thank you Bizgirl, for posting President Obama's thoughtful and kind words for a man he came to know and respect.

And from Mayor Rogero

"Today, we remember President George H.W. Bush at the time of his passing. Over his lifetime, he epitomized sacrifice and public service - first as the youngest naval pilot in World War II, flying 58 combat missions, and then as a statesman and political leader. President Bush will be remembered as a man of great faith who deeply loved his country."

I never voted for President Bush. However I have always appreciated his spirit of service and love for his country. I hope there is still a place in our community for grace and class and respect for people with whom we might philosophical differences. I know, I know. Grace and class are bourgeois concepts that have no place in the glorious global people's struggles as so impressively articulated by Misters Falk and Kaplan and we mere liberals and progressives must attain a higher degree of consciousness.

He was a good man

It amazes me how losers like Bill Clinton, G.W. Bush, Barack Obama and probably Trump get re-elected to second terms when good men like Jimmy Carter, Gerald Ford and Bush Sr. don't. I guess the White House is no place for good-hearted, honest people.

Very sad.

Maybe we think better of them

Maybe we think better of them when we only have to deal with them for 4 years.

That's an awful simplistic way of looking at his presidency. Or any of the presidency's you've mentioned for that matter.
