I assume it's a Republican secret because it just don't make any sense (with all due respect to Republicans).

Duncan's Legislative Update

I'll wait to see what Mrs. learns.

In the meantime, let me share. In Duncan's end of the year "legislative update" in the section for "health care," he references an article by Jayne Andrews (which I don't think I have read in full), which touts free market and no government intervention. At one point in the Andrews quote he uses, she blames Medicare, Medicaid and HMO's for the rising cost in health care. Andrews then goes on to assume "a large part of health care dollars surely must be going to their lawyers." (emphasis mine) No supporting empiracal evidence to support her assumption is included in the quote he uses.

Duncan then writes that to "reform" (read deform) health care, we need to look to HSA's and Association Health Plans, in addition to expanding the insurance industry, which according to Duncan, will create "more competition."

Shorter Duncan: it's all about the corporations.

I had put this aside to address at a later date, which I never got to. Perhaps now would be a good time.

Why No on medicare drug bill

Duncan always puts corporate interests before the good of his constituents.

Before you yell, "But what about the minimum wage hike?"
It was proven during the Clinton years that a minimum wage hike does not adversely affect the economy.

I called Congressman

I called Congressman Duncan's office in Washington, DC. I spoke with a Legislative Assistance, Amy Westmoreland. She said the Congressman voted against the Medicare Prescription Drug Negotiation because:
1. The free enterprise system should handle pricing.
2. The Veteran's Admin has a similar program and it doesn't work, it provides them less choices.
3. There is no evidence it would lower prices.
4. He thinks they should stop government red tape to allow small businesses to manufacture drugs.
