An acquaintance recently brought this to my attention. The son of this person recently went to college orientation (Freshman year) and part of the sexual consent discussion they see a video about making tea. The acquaintance mentioned this was not just a a single college, it is shown at many colleges during orientation.

If you're still struggling with consent just imagine instead of initiating sex you're making them a cup of tea.

Whether it is tea or sex consent is everything.

For some reason it made me laugh. The acquaintance was quite amused as well and went on and on about making tea. I had to check it out.

Now, obviously there is more to the orientation discussion about consensual sex, or we hope there is. I just wonder how much college freshmen get out of the Making Tea video versus not taking it seriously.

And, it would appear colleges and universities need to address consensual sex frequently, not just at orientation. Based on the problems being reported on college campuses, it would appear a class needs to be taught every semester and required by every student. The class should include that possible jail time that could result if sex is not consensual. Oh, and sexual harrassment is also not acceptable. It too could result in jail time or being thrown out of college. What would a person's future be if they mess up at such an early age?
