I've worn a light sweater the last 3-4 mornings on our walks. Have we hit record lows for July? Don't know. WBIR and WATE say it is possible.

Loving it

This reminds me of the cool summer nights we used to have in Evanston, IL. When the wind blows in off Lake Michigan it gets quite chilly.

What's even more remarkable is the lack of humidity. Have you noticed how beautiful the mountains look today? You can see the contours of Thunderhead Mountain instead of a vague mound in the white haze.

Oh, and it was a perfect day to take the kids to the new playground at World's Fair Park. With little sun canopy the cool day was perfect.

Not a record

My late grandmother told me about a baseball game she attended in Roane County in July (probably sometime in the early 1920's), when the temperature suddenly dropped and it started snowing!

I don't want it to snow, but I am loving this cooler summer. It has been quite enjoyable.

Record

NOAA says it was 58F this morning. The record on this date is 56F.

I'd rather be cycling.

I don't know about records,

I don't know about records, but my procrastination of mowing the yard was rewarded with the most comfortable morning to mow of the whole summer.

Cold night in Tenn.

Maybe thoughts about "global warming terror" can keep the chills away. Maybe this will slow down my tomatoes so we can keep 'em eaten.

May not be "fact"

But, a story that she told me while she was still alive. I am assuming she was not telling a lie. You must have some reason to think that she was lying? Anyway, what a silly thing for you to be rude about. I will assume that it is just your nature to be rude.

It is silly, but given that

It is silly, but given that the all-time July low in Knoxville is 49F, it's difficult to believe there was snow in Roane County.

Maybe a bizarre hail storm?

I'd rather be cycling.

Saying it "snowed" does not

Saying it "snowed" does not imply that twelve inches laid upon the ground. I am not sure why you think hail is probable, but not a snow shower.

At any rate, it was something my grandmother remembered enough to tell her granddaughter many years after it happened. Take it or leave it. Please.

I remember my dad talking

I remember my dad talking about a snowfall in Morgan County during his youth at a time when their corn was about a foot tall.

I'm probably wrong but I would guess it was some time in June.

Mt. Harriman?

Perhaps it's colder in Roane countiy in July than atop Mt. LeConte. 38 degree record low.

It's not that unusual to see

It's not that unusual to see snow falling when the temperature is in the forties. It just doesn't hang around very long.
