To paraphrase Lynne Cheney, these are not good people.

I watched that silly mock waterboarding on some cable news show last night. What a joke. You could have rested a water glass on the guy's chest without spilling a drop. He was laying there, not jerking or spasming the way anyone would if they really thought they were being killed. All he did was mildly turn his head from side to side, and the guys doing the "torture" looked like Moms giving a baby a bath. You can beat the farm that the real men who carry out torture routines have a sadistic streak in them. They don't treat their victims as clinically and dis-passionately as we see on that tape. That's one reason the torture clips were destroyed.

If the dummocrats didn't want us driving 87, 96.5, or 102 mph, they shudda made that clear in the law

"Judge Mukasey is not Alberto R. Gonzales."

Stellar reasoning, Dianne. And sterling leadership.

Feinstein '08. She may be a hopeless, cowardly twit.
But at least she's not Imelda Marcos.

...Precisely:

There has been no shortage of litmus tests in the past: abortion, gay marriage, the flag amendment—whatever hot-button issue the G.O.P. cooks up for its next election campaign. But the torture litmus test is new, and it seems to be key for lawyers. It really is an exercise in Kool Aid drinking. If you’re prepared to hedge on whether waterboarding is torture, then you might be counted upon to do anything.

In my opinion this piece only reiterates why the Democratic rollover this weekend was such a travesty.

These kids deserve a lot of credit for daring to present their views about torture to the President. The article says he wasn't expecting their letter. Somehow I instinctively felt their message would have an impact because of that. I'm sure most White House guests, even the ones that hate Bush's policies, play nice while they are there. The fact that these bright young people wanted to speak out against something that was once considered unthinkable gives me hope.

UPDATE: White House denies there was any meeting or any announcement re. Gitmo scheduled for tomorrow. Olbermann says that AP reported there was a meeting scheduled, but now it has been canceled. Speculation is that Dick Cheney leaked the story to kill the whole idea.

UPDATE: Here's the updated AP story.

Rumsfeld and his failing memory. What is simply amazing is how they can to this day, continue the denials while maintaining a straight face.
