Poll:

I got a reminder invite to join the American Legion a few weeks ago. I served during Operation Desert Storm as a Naval Reservist attached to the Marine Corps. How many progessive veterans are there in East Tennessee?

Happy Veterans Day.

Are you for or against a national id? And why? The Senate votes tomorrow!

BoingBoing has some details as well as a link to a site which will fax your senator (if you oppose).

Personally I do not feel strongly one way or another about this one but that is probably because I have not followed the news on it. 17 states oppose it so there must be something bad about the proposal. I look forward to seeing comments here.

"It's unfathomable that more than five years after September 11th, a measure as fundamental and simple as this one still has not been implemented," said Lowey, who serves on the House Committee on Homeland Security. "Meticulously screening passengers but giving workers open access is like installing an expensive home-security system but leaving your back door wide open."

Why were the two Kissimmee men able to get on the plane with a bag of weapons even though one of them, Zabdiel Santiago-Balaguer, was part of a larger investigation by the FBI into gun-smuggling through the airport?

...the Transportation Security Administration, hasn't seen the need for regular screenings either, believing them to be costly and time-consuming.

We passengers are sheep, following along to get along. While the government and corporate America can't take the time or spend the money to make air travel safe from employees.
