In addition to the flooding on Alcoa Highway, it appears more flooding and a microburst hit parts of Alcoa in the Springbrook community, downing some trees and power lines and washing away a foot bridge in Springbrook Park.
No damage to homes observed, but it appeared most of Springbrook was without power. More crappy cellphone pics after the jump...
continued...
A foot bridge, washed about 100 yards downstream from where it used to be.
Where the foot bridge used to be. Apparently it wasn't anchored very well and just floated away in the flooding.
(The cows didn't seem all that perturbed.)

It was quite amazing how all
It was quite amazing how all these trees were down in the Springbrook area and no apparent damage to homes. The Alcoa Utility trucks shown in the pictures were in the backyards of a group of homes in Springbrook. There are lots of big trees among the close together homes, as designed when the neighborhood was initially designed by the aluminum company people.
The Maryville Daily Times
The Maryville Daily Times files this report:

"Springbrook Park looked like it had gone 10 rounds with a world champion boxer and lost."
On the Alcoa Highway flooding, microburst + clogged storm drain = big problem. According to the report, water drained away quickly once workers cleared a drain using pitchforks. There was flooding at the airport, too, and inside a restaurant on Alcoa Highway.
