Just received this as an ad on my Facebook feed from Salvation Army: "$250 helps provide 9 nights of shelter for someone with nowhere else to go. " Frankly, $27.77 per bed per night sounds expensive to me. That's $833/month, which here in South Knoxville would rent an entire 3-bedroom house.

Yet the city, through its Community Development office, continues to 'outsource' homeless services to Salvation Army, KARM and Volunteer Ministry.

"I have spoken of a thousand points of light, of all the community organizations that are spread like stars throughout the Nation, doing good." - George H. W. Bush, 1989
