Tennessee ranks 43rd on a Forbes.com list of America's Greenist States.

Wow. Kudos to the


Kudos to the Northeastern states. Six of the top 10 states are in the northeast.

Florida is the only "Southern" state to make it in the top 20.
Most recently southerners don't even consider Florida southern unless they've done something good.

Seven of the bottom 10 are southern states.
I have to admit, southern states are rarely leaders, that I can remember.

Re West Virginia: It's got more toxic waste to manage per capita than all but three states. Alabama, also manages the fifth largest amount of toxic waste per capita.Louisiana, Louisiana manages the second largest amount of toxic waste per capita in the country.

That's a lot of toxic waste. Are these states leaders in generating toxic waste or accepting it from other states for disposal?

I don't know about Alabama, but LA and WV have many chemical manufacturing facilities.

Yep, it's pretty much a list of blue states followed by red. What a surprise. I counted only about five exceptions.
