Ashe gets his walking papers. Did he fall on a plate of sausages like a ravenous Ostrogoth in a Warsaw train station while the gleeful press snapped pictures? Yes. Did he represent the US in Poland while it teetered on the brink of a return to authoritarian rule? Yes. Did he have much to say about it? No. Why? Well, there's that non-working missile defense shield that HAS TO BE THERE TO PROTECT US FROM THE ROOSKIES! C'mon home, Victor. The reins of the County Mayorship are waiting for you to take them up!

Heh. We were just talking at the downtown breakfast meeting of subversives last week about Ashe, and how he wanted to come home, and how Bush made him stay to shepherd the missile "defense" deal through.
Oh geez, a consequence of the election I overlooked - Victor returns to Knoxpatch.
When next we see each other, allow me to regale you with the stories.
True happiness is knowing you are a hypocrite. -- Ivor Cutler
Victor would have been coming home regardless of who won the election, and I'm sure he's been preparing for that for a long time. His departure has been hastened by Obama's victory, but he would've been outta there anyhow.
He needs to return home to apply for his federal home improvement funds. His home on Kingston Pike is just inside the HUD Empowerment Zone. This qualifies his home for special federal programs and funding from HUD. KNS did a story within the last few days about home improvement funds for the Knoxville area. The home must be inside the Empowerment Zone to qualify.
I don't understand how the north side of Kingston Pike from Neyland to Forrest Glen qualifies. When areas on Riverside, Washington Pike, and a large area east of Broadway at Fulton High to I-640 is not in the zone.
All of us, Republicans and Democrats, should band together and petition Obama to please please please keep Victor in Poland and away from us.
~Russ
Where do I sign?
How about a partition deal? Surely there's enough of the pear shaped ambassador for the Russians, Germans and Austrians to all get a piece?
Scenario: Ashe becomes County Mayor and then started annexing adjoining counties? Call it the "Ansflab."
True happiness is knowing you are a hypocrite. -- Ivor Cutler
The county would gradually finger annex the city.
He beats any of the possible contenders I have heard of
And the game begins.
True happiness is knowing you are a hypocrite. -- Ivor Cutler
The empowerment zone is done by census tract. I guess Victor's home qualifies because of the income levels near Sutherland.

Polish ambassador? There's *got* to be a joke there somewhere....

Dirty deeds done dirt cheap! Special holidays, Sundays and rates!
I hope Victor does run for County Mayor. Let's have the Metro referendum again and again. It would be great to see the reception county voters would give Mr. Ambassador.
County Commissioner Richard Briggs is making Metro sounds as part of his Mayoral campaign. Is Nashville envy a positive when running for County Mayor? Time will tell.
I wonder if Timmah B. will step on the Metro rail also? But I did hear Timmah B. is reading to children, so his campaign is real. Until Briggs reads to children I am skeptical about his campaign to be Head Cheerleader.
Ah, and if Hutch wins, will he surround the city with a security fence and send in Snake Plissken?
Ah, and if Hutch wins, will he surround the city with a security fence and send in Snake Plissken?
There is no record that either Hutch or Snake Plissken have EVER read to children. Get with the program, you know the rules.
What's fascinating about the whole anti-Ragsdale discourse is that it centers on his supposed corruption and moral bankruptcy, but the same people who participate in it would eat a ton of rotten tomatoes to get The Shurf in charge of the whole shooting match. Ragsdale's a bum, don't get me wrong, but The Shurf ran a classic Tennessee sheriff's department rife with wild spending (those amazing helicopters!), internecine retribution (what happen's if you cross The Shurf and just happen to work for The Shurf), hinky practices (see his labor force for his construction company) and nepotism (the sister that amazingly got the prison concession).
{insert oblig "He's too toxic to run, but" comment from the Digit that merely demonstrates that he screams into his pillow at least once a week over this very issue}

One trick pony...
Link...
only knows one trick.
Wha.....?
Ya lost me on this one, Nine.....
I added a cover too!!!!!!!
No Matter Where you go, There you Are!!!!
Ya lost me on this one, Nine.....
The tired idea that if someone is opposed to the illegal acts of Mike Ragsdale they are a mind numbed robot controlled by Tim Hutchison. It is a one trick pony. A non sequitur.
I don't see four years of Tim Hutchison as County Mayor as what this county needs. It would give Jack McElroy/Herb Moncier way too much power and would distract from any chance to get the county budget under control. Too many chances for misdirection. Not a good idea.
We are tilting towards becoming Cleveland. We need a real business man, this time a downtown politician is not the answer. Another Haslam puppet is not the answer either. Trying to be Nashville isn't the answer either.
We need change. There, at least someone said it. Burchett says he will hire the best when questioned about his lack of executive experience. Briggs rambles why can't we be more like Nashville. Mike Hammond has yet to use the radio voice but he will. Use what you have. I have no idea what R. Larry will say but it will be interesting.
If this isn't a comedy yet then Lumpy can put on his big screw costume and then it will be perfect. And of course there are those who wait with baited breath for the savior Bill Haslam to come and save us all.
It won't be boring.
"We need a real business man"

Why do you keep defending Ragsdale!!?
Are you being intentionally hilarious? Or are you truly deaf to the irony of this sentence coming from someone who automatically assumes anyone who refuses to join his torch and pitchfork wielding mob, gets there marching orders from the Ragsdale machine?
That's, if anything, even funnier than the first bit. The trouble with Timmy taking the reins of power aren't any fault of his, it's those mean people who insist on picking on him?
And of course there are those who wait with baited breath for the savior Bill Haslam to come and save us all.
Are you seriously suggesting that there's one single person in Knox County who thinks Haslam would run for County Mayor?
And it's "bated" - unless you've been eating minnows or something.
