A flock rafter of turkeys came through my yard a few weeks ago, and I managed to photograph them from the back porch without scaring them off. They gathered under a dogwood, eating berries that had fallen to the ground.
More pics after the break.

That's a lot of wild

A friend of mine once told

A friend of mine once told me that turkeys are so dumb that a way to catch them is to put some seed in a paper cone with something sticky on the bottom (honey). When the turkey goes to eat it, the cone gets stuck on their beak, covering their eyes, and the bird will stay there until you come to get it.
What do you make of this? True or BS?

That sounds like an urban legend

That sets off my urban legend detector.

As I understand, wild turkeys are rather smart (well, smart as birds go.) Its domesticated turkeys that are stupid.

Unfortunate...

See, you all have all the luck. In south Louisiana we can't have neat things like this. Anything moves a coonass will come along and eat it.
