I noticed all East Tn. small towns voted yes on the pro-liquor referendums except Jellico and Loudon. According to NORML Michigan became the 13th state to vote to legalize medical marijuana and several similar ballot initiatives passed including in Mass. where a minor posession will be fine only. I do find it unfortunate with all the progress that Tn. went redder and Prop. 8 passed in Calif. of all places.

In regard to Loudon County, Lenoir City will not have liquor stores but Loudon will. To be precise, the residents of Tellico Village voted to have liquor stores in the city of Loudon, while the residents of the city of Loudon voted against having them in their own city.
The Tennessee liquor laws are a confusing mess.
Its so silly in Sevier and Blount County where towns a mile apart would have different alcohol laws, but I think it mostly got cleared up Tues. The thinking on it is what's silly, folks want beer in restaurants but don't want folks to have the ability to take it home. Or they are fine with a gas station selling beer but the thought of a liquor store freaks them out, and I know there are some alcohol drinkers up in Jellico...who probably don't vote.
