Wasn't there a Republican President who got into a lot of trouble over some plumbers?

Apparently "Joe" the Plumber is a liar and a tax cheat

Joe's real name is Sam. He operates without a license, lies about being in the union, and owes back taxes. And apparently he doesn't understand the difference between revenue and profit.

He sounds like the perfect McCain voter, doesn't he? Unfortunately may not be allowed to vote because his voter registration card has a different name. If it's the election commission's fault, I hope they fix it for him.

One would think the McCain

One would think the McCain campaign would vet its debate centerpiece a little better. But given how little it vetted the vice-presidential nominee, I guess that really shouldn't come as a surprise.

I'd rather be cycling.

just off the wire....

... apparently he's a relative of Charles Keating of the McCain/Keating S&L scandal.

Yeah, I'm sure that's exactly what McCain wanted to remind everyone of.

Its a good thing I wasn't

Its a good thing I wasn't drinking anything when I read that, because, if I had been, I would have sprayed it all over my monitor.

Wow, I take back my earlier

Wow, I take back my earlier comment. "Joe" may very well have been pre-screened.

The funny thing is that all this stuff on "Joe the Plumber" today has all but superseded whatever economic point McCain may have scored in yesterday's debate.
