After the last few months it no longer feels strange to see Knoxville on national news. Most recently the pilot mooning cars on Alcoa Hwy. was on Inside Edition yesterday and a few weeks ago CNN reported on the guy stuck in the vent at the KMA. But Knoxville seems to be having some especially gruesome crimes the last few years, all unrelated.
I hope that the murder of the girl from Ala. does not become about illegal immigration. Wannabe Mayor Burchett is already on tv going on about "illegals" as he is prone to do. I have always felt safe in motels with a card entry because I assumed it made the doors almost break-in proof.
I assumed housekeepers had to turn in their keys and they would be trust worthy people. If motels don't monitor who has a key, then any red-blooded American could be capable of doing what the illegal immigrant allegedly did. And, someone could be prone to violence without having had a criminal record, like the American male who committed the church shooting.
So I would say proper secuity and self defense knowledge are more of an issue than whether the guy was here legally. And we can't let Burchett become mayor. I've heard him in senate debates saying Tenn Care was being ruined by "illegals" with no newsperson calling him on the fact that "illegals" can't get Tenn Care.
