This looks like it's for real and is unbelievably creepy:
"...now that there is a very real possibility that McCain could be elected as our next president, I feel it is my duty as an American citizen to share this story. I can't imagine a more scary outcome for America than that this abusive, aggressive man should lead our nation. I have observed him in intimate surroundings as he really is, not how the media portrays him to be.
If his attitudes toward women and his treatment of his own family are even a small indicator of his real personality, then I shudder to think what will happen to America were he to be elected as our President."

Update:
This thing is going viral, and while there seem to be some glitches (i.e., Gamel is not the original author), it seems to be mostly holding up.

Awesome!
Cindy McCain looks like an abused spouse to me.
Fake
I bet the last time John McCain pushed around a shopping cart I hadn't been born yet.
Yeah, it sounded pretty real
Yeah, it sounded pretty real until that part. Snopes is on it, status "undetermined."
Gamel appears to be a pretty
Gamel appears to be a pretty well-known scholar, and shouldn't be hard to find. We'll know soon.
The quote about Bridget was very harsh, and I agree that it's tough to imagine McCain pushing a shopping cart. But she didn't say that he did so -- she said he 'said' he did.
This one sets off my
This one sets off my BS/Urban Legend detector.
It sounds really suspicious to me.
Ditto. Especially the
Ditto. Especially the Bridget part. I can believe him saying "I had nothing to do with that" since he basically didn't. I can't believe the "ugly, black" part.
Gee
It must be true. Its on the net.
This is an account of
This is an account of something that happened a decade ago. None of the words attributed to McCain can be considered valid quotes. All this is is another testimony about McCain's temperament, and we've already got a nice collection of those. Throwing in one with dubious authorship and storyteller's embellishments is just going to sour the whole barrel.
Tit for tat
You know, there was a time when I would defend conservatives against this kind of thing (yes, my B.S. detector is going off, too). But then I watch 5 minutes of Fox News or listen to 30 seconds of Sean Hannity, and I lose all sympathy whatsoever.
True or false, I hope this gets spread all over the internet. Let the other side get a taste of the bile we've had to swallow for the last 10 years. I'd like to think it would make people sit up for second and say, "hmm, maybe forwarding this email about Obama having lunch with Bin Ladin isn't the right thing to do" and not push the FORWARD button. I wish that would be the end result of this stuff coming across the internet.
Why? Because this stuff, no matter which side it's from or which side it attacks, is dangerous to our democracy. While we listen to Faux News about Obama's Hawaiian birth certificate, we miss out on the discussion about how derivatives and credit default swaps might destroy our economy, or what's going on inside Iran.
So, please, hit that forward button, send it to everyone you know, and maybe we'll get enough people sick of this kind of thing, like a kid barfing on Halloween candy. Otherwise, you'll see it all again in 2012.
I wish I could disagree with
I wish I could disagree with you.
One of my rules in life is always always always try to be better than your opponents. Even if it costs you, you still get to sleep at night.
The problem is, when I developed that philosophy, I was dealing with one of those "the politics are so vicious because the stakes are so small" things. In this case, the opponents lose their sleep while in the White House bedroom.
agreed- awaiting condemnation from bobbylife...
...who seems to think that intellectual purity and complete honesty will win this election, or if not this election the next one, or the next one after that, or at least we will have bragging rights among moralists. Yeah, at least we won't be losers in our HEADS!
Screw that. I'm tired of letting idiots win because we fail to address the "low information" public in ways they respond to.
