Rock the Vote teamed up with TouchTunes to ask TouchTune digital juke box users in thousands of bars across America the burning question of the 2008 election:
Which candidate would you most like to have a beer with?
Based on more than 72,000 responses, the results are:
• 29% - Barack Obama
• 22% - Hillary Clinton
• 20% - John McCain
• 29% - None of the above
The regional high score breakdown is interesting. Obama scored 31.2% in the Midwest. The Southwest went for Clinton with 24%, and McCain scored 23% in the Southeast.
In addition to promoting Rock the Vote and providing voter registration info, the TouchTune digital juke box banner ad/survey campaign also asked participants Which issue is most important to you?
The results:
• 41% - jobs and the economy
• 21% - war in Iraq
• 15% - healthcare
• 12% - global warming
• 11% - cost of education
Broken down by gender:
• Jobs/Economy: Men 46.4%, Women 34.4%
• War in Iraq: Men 22.7%, Women 18.8%
• Healthcare: Men 10.7%, 19.7%
And last but not least:
WHICH PARTY ROCKS?
34% - Democratic Party
18% - Republican Party
18% - Independent Party
30% - don’t know/other
Broken down by music format (based on the predominant type of music played at a specific bar):
• Rock & Roll bars – Democrats 32.6%, Republicans 19.2%
• Country bars – Democrats 31%, Republicans 20.6%
• R&B bars – Democrats 51%, Republicans 13.6%
Statistical proof that not only do Democrats rock, they're country-fried and down with the urban sound.

Put me into "none of the
Put me into "none of the above."
If I had to be in a social drinking session with a presidential campaign as of today, I'd be into straight gin.

• R&B bars – Democrats
• R&B bars – Democrats 51%, Republicans 13.6%
Yeah! I'll take a scotch.
In a world of Polls.....
...that's actually interesting.
Figuring the crowds to be at least mostly younger (safe assumption I think), these results bode well for the future of the Democratic party.
It seems to me that regular people are generally in approval of the Democrat's slight Leftward movement. We're getting more new voters through youthful interest and old Social Liberals like myself who often vote Green because few Dem candidates are socially liberal enough to represent us.
This renewed interest is something Obama is nurturing and it's probably more responsible for his success than anything he has said or done.
I was talking to Lugo about the probability that as the Democratic party moves a little Left, many Greens may see fit to vote with us and in doing so, dramatically increase our numbers.
One thing I've always loved about the Greens is that they just won't vote for hypocrites.
Barack Obama has had a minor gaff or two but he hasn't committed that blatant hypocrisy that we're so used to seeing from politicians in both parties.
Sometimes it's not what a politician says that wins votes, it's what they don't say.
Hypocrisy-less campaigning is a pleasant "change" that's very attractive to people who are tired of being pandered and lied to.
