According to the AP [1], an Oklahoma man was declared brain dead and was about to have his organs removed, only to be saved by family members after he showed reactions to touch while paying their last respects. This sounds like the making of a horror story. How many thousands, after being declared brain dead, have gone under the knife and had their organs plucked from their bodies, while alert enough of their situation to know it, but unable to convey their horror externally.
