I think this is the highest we've seen so far. Spring break special! What are gas prices where you are? Will it be $4 in July?

You gotta love N.J! Funny,as
You gotta love N.J! Funny,as I was driving this morning I was thinking that we really do have the best of both worlds here in Monmouth county. Close to NYC, miles of great beaches, excellent shopping and great schools. And, not only are the gas prices cheaper, but I don't have to pump my own gas!
Middletown is a nice place.
Middletown is a nice place. I'm about 15 minutes from there. I was just there yesterday. If you think that place is Rockwelle-like, you should see my little horse-country town. I live in the country but am 5 minutes from everything I could possibly need. It's very unique. Jersey City is really congested-like living in NYC but it also has it's advantages!
$3.49 highest seen so far
...here in north-central Indiana, as of Thursday. This afternoon it had retreated to about $3.37.
That's nice, but it's still too low
That's nice, but it's still way too low to change anything.
How about a list of ethanol stations to avoid? So far I've noticed that Weigels and Pilot are pushing anti-environmental corn juice. Who else?
time to trade in the prius
time to trade in the prius for something more efficient ..
$3.19
...1/2 mile from the fourth largest refinery in the US. Doesn't seem right.
$3.07 down the street here
$3.07 down the street here in East Texas. I was looking to buy a vehicle that runs on E85, but the closest station to me is 125 miles away. I guess I'm stuck with regular ol' unleaded for awhile.
Where was that at? Go to
Where was that at? Go to Weigel's!
Okay, why is it cheapest, so
Okay, why is it cheapest, so far, in New Jersey? We were thinking lower gas taxes?
It's your money!
If only we had an oil man in the White House, who knew how to "jaw bone" with the Saudis to get them to lower their prices.
$40/month...
...Buys ya' a bus ticket here in good ol' East Tennessee...It must suck to buy gas these days ;~)
I noticed that regular was
I noticed that regular was $3.13 at the Pilot on Broadway close to the Fellini. My RAV usually takes about two tanks a month these days, which at these prices is pushing $80. I would love to ride the bus, but my schedule and the various appointments I have make it impractical from a time-management point of view.

Hidden fuel cost
Diesel fuel has risen faster than regular gas, making us pay more at the retail and grocery stores since most everything is delivered by diesel power vehicles.
In 1955 diesel cost 11 cents a gallon and regular gas cost 31 cents a gallon. During the gas crises of the 70s diesel rose faster than gas. In 1980 diesel cost 81 cents a gallon and regular was $1.13. During the next 20 years diesel backed down to about 45 to 60 percent of the cost of regular. Today diesel is $4.00 and regular is $3.15.
I believe diesel is overprice to offset the actual cost of gas to avoid a panic. The sad part is the low income citizens are supplementing the cost of operating my vehicle every time they go to the grocery store.
I think it will close to $4
then drop prior to the elections as the oil companies scramble to help McCain and the repubs.
Obviously we need a replacement for fossil fuels. We really need fusion for powerplants and some form of liquid fuel or gas to replace gasoline for automobiles.
Gasohol isn't the answer as it will drive up the cost of corn and other grains unless we can find away to manufacture it from some common plant source at a lower cost.
Other sources of power such as solar and wind cost too much and don't produce enough.
Wind power is cheap. It has
Wind power is cheap. It has its drawbacks, yada yada. But it's not expensive.
I dunno...
...I still think conservation is the answer.
Oh wait...I forgot. That's inconvenient.
Did Lamar get involved in a wind power debate...?
The ones near Oak Ridge are pretty but do you want them on the mountain you live on ?
And they don't generate enough power to make them worthwhile as a solution.
It's still cheap power
Who said I live on a mountain and what does wind power have to do with the price of gas?
Gas turbine generators
TVA has a few gas turbine generators, wind power can reduce their use.
Substitution
Vehicles can run on natural gas. So wind can reduce natural gas needed for electricty. Aren't we just a few years away from photovoltaics being cost effective?

Here in Junction City KS.
Here in Junction City KS. the price is around $3.18. Going over my gas receipts I noticed that I paid $3.25 in Crossville, $ 3.29 somewhere around Nashville, $3.13 in Paducah KY, and 3.08 in Missouri.
