Greg Mackay at the Knox County Election Commission reports that 639 people voted in the first day of early voting yesterday. In addition, they have received 226 absentee ballots by mail, for a total of 825 votes so far. Of the 649 who voted yesterday, 40 requested paper ballots. The overall break down so far is 226 votes in the Democratic primary, 595 votes in the Republican primary, and 4 undeclared. (I wonder how many of the 599 who voted by machine were even aware that twelve of the names on the ballot have been ruled ineligible for office?)
