The News Sentinel reports that statewide early voting turnout is a new record, and Knox County had the highest early voter turnout in the state. And that's in total numbers, not percentage. More than either Shelby or Davidson County. The turnout is attributed to intense interest in controversial local races.

Another 30+ thousand are expected Super Tuesday alone... glad I voted early.

I meant to vote early but

I meant to vote early but waited to see if there would be developments (there were, Edwards dropped out). But then of course stuff came up that kept me from voting the last couple of early voting days, so now I have to do it Tuesday.

I actually like voting on election day; it feels cool to think about all the other folks who are voting at the same time. But the Knox County ballot is so complicated this year I'm afraid there will be long lines.

Oh well, I guess I'll take a magazine I want to catch up on.

I get to feelin' a little sappy on this point my own cranky self. Now, if we could just ditch the Electoral College...

In 1992 I was in Little Rock. Everybody in the state either wanted to be on record as voting for or agin Bill Clinton. I was in line for four hours.
