Powell Community Plans Candidate Forum
Submitted by Tamara Shepherd on Mon, 2007/12/10 - 3:21pm.
The PTAs of Powell High, Powell Middle, and Powell Elementary Schools will co-host a Community Candidate Forum at Powell High School on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at 7:00 pm.
Invited candidates will be those persons returning qualifying petitions for the Sixth District (Seat A) County Commission office, formerly held by Sharon Cawood, and the Second and Third District School Board offices, currently held by Indya Kincannon and Cindy Buttry respectively. Presently, 16 persons have picked up qualifying petitions for these races.
The event format will include a "Meet & Greet" session in the high school lobby, at which candidates may distribute campaign literature from tables provided by Powell High, from 6:30 pm to 7:00 pm.
The forum itself will run from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm in the high school auditorium. The event will follow a question-and-answer format with Bill Williams, retired WBIR-TV news anchor, serving as moderater.
Specifically, attendees may submit their written questions to Mr. Williams, who will in turn choose those questions each and every candidate may answer. A timekeeper will allow each candidate one minute to answer the chosen question. (Should the field of candidates narrow by the date of the forum, each candidate will be allowed more time to answer the given question.)
All qualified candidates will receive both a telephone call and a formal invitation by U.S. mail following the close of the petition filing period on December 13, 2007.

(Please note that National PTA is a non-partisan organization and does not endorse candidates.)
