I have to ask
Her view of Jews is pretty much in line with the Christianity I was raised with. The suggestion would be that we could all be perfected through Jesus and that the Jews are closer to that because they're already god's chosen people. Perhaps it seems racist and offensive, but let me know when you find a religion that won't piss someone off.
Now to the real problem. Why do we keep giving her air time? Can someone explain why she's even on tv? At the very most she should have a wee morning hours AM radio show that no one ever listens to except truckers.
Coulter is a comedian, we liberals have them too
I think it's wrong for us liberals to wish there was some way to shut up the blonde hag with the swashbuckling tongue. Hey, what about 1st amendment rights? I love satire. Colbert makes me giggle and Jon Stewart's take on politics isn't exactly kind, but I agree with him most of the time, so I find him funny.
The problem with Coulter is that people actually think she is some kind of political anaylst. She's not! She's a hip conservative jokester, a TV shock jock. It's easy to see she makes her money by going right into the heart of common decency. Coulter is a cash cow aligned with the Evangelical conservative movement. She's their mouthpiece. Personally she sets my teeth on edge, but it doesn't seem fair for us liberals to want to get rid of her. Like a desperate unruly brat hungry for atention of any kind, she'll take whatever she can get and go laughing all the way to the bank.
Attacking her opinions is fine. She is fair game because the things she says are so stupidi and wrong most of the time. They are ill thought-out and often hurtful, but the only way to really get over on Ann C. would be to ignore her.
That won;t happen because millions of people (unfortunately) really dig her hideous sense of humor. They tune in every time she's on, so the station profits. They get more money if more people watch.
As for who is more perfected than who in God's eyes. It is just sooo primative to still be believing God is some kind of petty buffoon who loves some people more than others. If God truly IS everything. If he is the source of ALL. Then ALL is God. It's like the ocean wondering which of its waves are the most worthy. The waves might look seperate, but they are all part of the ONE big sea. Which because it came from God and was made with the only raw materials available--God's own spirit--his DNA--it is in essense God. To think God favors one religion over another is folly. They are all the same to him. He made them all because he IS all things under heaven (or wherever).

And you guys are worried about Ann Coulter's rantings?
Why do we keep giving her
Why do we keep giving her air time?...
"We" don't unless you have a mouse in your pocket. But she has a goodly fan base who will rush out and snap up her books and listen/watch anything she is on. The comments she makes, such as this one, is exactly what keeps her fan base close. She was completely aware of what that and other comments would do. I saw a tape of the interview in which she made this statement to a Jewish interviewer. At one point she said "I don't mean to offend you" or words to that effect. I thought to meself, Yes you do.
I get it
I definitely get that she knows what she's saying, though I do often wonder about her, if she truly believes a good portion of the crap she willingly lets fall out of her mouth. I wonder the same thing about Rush as well. I honestly tend to avoid all mention of her, and I was kind of surprised that someone at KnoxViews bothered. And now I'm guilty of two comments in as many days decrying the very thing I'm doing, and I've helped Carole and Terry become an accessories.
And to Carole's point above, I don't want to shut her down. I don't want to deny her fans. I just think that if we could just accept that she's a hack and not newsworthy then her voice would grow less loud if not ever less shrill. She's like the Paris Hilton of the political world.
She's like the Paris Hilton of the political world.
Excellent comparison. I know the woman is evil. In spite of how she's hyped I think a lot of people know she's just a funny stooge for Conservatiove Republicans. Every time I've seen her speak the audience is rolling in their seats laughing, not pondering her wise words. Ann Coulter is a an evil clown. Hearing her talk is like listening to a fingernail scraping against a chalkboard--yuk!
The problem with Coulter is
All due respect? This is baloney.
She's marketed as a respectable political pundit. People bring her on news shows to provide commentary on current events.
Tell me - do you know what The Elves are?
In case you didn't, they were a group of Republican activists hired by Richard Mellon Scaife to scour Arkansas with the sole purpose of funnelling salacious information into the Ken Starr prosecution. Coulter was an Elf. She was a legal advisor to Paula Jones. Her job was to participate in the rhetorical assassination of the Clinton presidency.
Don't buy this crap about how she's just some harmless mouthy tart. She's not.
Here's the difference: Bill Maher, Jon Stewart, and Stephen Colbert are on topical comedy shows.

Some where in this great
Some where in this great nation a horse is missing its neck and Ann Coulter has it.
I wouldn't use the word
I wouldn't use the word "worried." At least Coulter, for good or ill, has a megaphone that reaches thousands of times as many people as the person who wrote the words that apparently worry you. And AC's made millions off her hate speech. I do find that a little troubling.
Philosophy & Marketing
It's like the ocean wondering which of its waves are the most worthy.
I happen to find this very poetic. I am amazed to find such a gem buried in an Ann Coulter thread of all places.
Back to the subject at hand - I am somewhat concerned about the "Ann Coulter" brand because I plan to build some houses on Colter St. I was worried that the name could be a drawback - kind of like living on Hitler ave. So I brougt this up in a discussion with some reasonably educated but not politically active friends and their reaction was "who's Ann Coulter?". That was a relief.

Around here it shouldn't be hard to get the street renamed after a locally popular Republican or sports celeb. And then watch your $$$ roll in!
There was a new development a few years ago off Mabry Hood that had a street named--and this is no lie--Rush Limbaugh Drive (or Rd, etc.). I don't think it still has that name, but I can't see the sign from the main road to know.
EDIT: I think it's now named Oak Haven Rd. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&time=&date=&ttype=&q=oak+...
Oh, yuk yuk yuk
Can you imagine what the neighbors would be like? Rush Limbaugh Lane is still on Google maps...
