Just a note of thanks and a free plug for our web hosting service provider,
Hosting Matters [2].
Because of the growth of this site and the complexity of the software, we were outgrowing our shared hosting account with them and decided to move our web empire to our own dedicated server.
Hosting Matters had the new server provisioned within a matter of hours, and worked through the night on Friday to get KnoxViews and BlountViews moved over with virtually no disruption.
Hopefully this will resolve some of the site issues we've been having, but if not we will at least be better able to diagnose problems and we'll have more flexibility to fine tune things how we want.
Any time you make a big change like this, due diligence requires that you do your homework and look at all the alternatives. After spending several days researching the latest web hosting technology and offerings (which included a lot of gimmicks), I kept coming back to Hosting Matters. The number one reason is trust. I've been hosting web sites with them for five years, and they are dependable, reliable, and responsive, and their service and support is top notch.
I'm sure there are plenty of great hosting services out there, but there are also a lot of horror stories. So I decided to stay with a company I trust and that has provided great service over the years. Their hosting packages are sort of in the middle in terms of price but at the top of the list in terms of value. They don't oversell or make promises they can't keep, they keep their systems up to date, and their proactive support is as good as it gets.
If you need a reliable hosting platform for
LAMP [3] web applications, or just a simple, inexpensive static business card web page, you can't go wrong with
Hosting Matters [4].
