Sounds like a great idea. I like all of the topics. Knox County Government is doing a good thing. Great location, Knoxville Convention & Expo Center (525 Henley St.).
I really wish I could attend, already busy that day though.
Since you brought it up:
You say these conferences are usually pretty good, thus these must have been held before. When? How often?
Do you know how they are marketing the conference?
Do you know how many people they are expecting to attend?
Do you know what individuals are leading the sessions?
Do you know if they will be providing information to guide/inform citizens on some of these topics (e.g. rules, laws, suggestions)?
Or, is there a document somewhere with more information?
I need to get Blount County to start these kinds of meetings.
Update:
I called the Knox County Office of Neighborhoods and received some additional information.
You say these conferences are usually pretty good, thus these must have been held before. When? How often?
ANSWER: Annually. This is the 3rd year.
Do you know how they are marketing the conference?
ANSWER: They are sending out flyers to neighborhood organizations and individuals that have contacted their office for assistance in the past. They have a tracking database.
Do you know how many people they are expecting to attend?
ANSWER: They have room for 250 attendees.
Do you know what individuals are leading the sessions?
ANSWER: They have a Steering Committee comprised of members of the community to lead the sessions. County or City employees (Department heads, etc) may be brought in to provide topic information and contribute to the discussions.
Do you know if they will be providing information to guide/inform citizens on some of these topics (e.g. rules, laws, suggestions)?
ANSWER: There may or may not be handouts for the individual sessions. A Steering Committee meeting is being held tonight or tomorrow to discuss further.
Or, is there a document somewhere with more information?
ANSWER: No. I am welcome to contact the department Deputy Director for additional information, which I may do later.

The workshop presenters were really informed and many organizations had tables set up to get information. I consider it one of the best conferences I've attended about neighborhoods.

Wow.
I think this is the third conference.
They usually get marketed through flyers, emails to neighborhood groups, word of mouth, county/city websites, etc.
For the rest of the info, you should talk to someone on the planning committee. I'll email you some contact info.
