Il Duce (as folks in NYC like to call him) got up in front of the NRA (or "The National Guns For Everybody Other Than The People That Scare Us Association")* and delivered the classic fence sitter stance on guns: States Rights. He also pledged no more gun laws. Look, I think he is actually telling the truth. He wants the states to take over gun control as an issue, not because he's a big fan of guns, but that eliminates the whole mess as an issue for him. Then he floats the big stinker: No additional gun laws. Right. Whoof. This is a hedge of the first order. That leaves him perfect semantic license to crackdown using the laws already on the books, which he will. If the gun lobby starts to scream, they'll get that light, salty taste that every person whoever felt Giuliani's jackboot has in their mouth. I've talked about this before. If you want the clampdown, no matter who gets busted, I suggest a vote for Giuliani. Go for it.

*I say a Kalashnikov (with proper training) for every man, woman and child no matter their race, creed, ethnicity or class. Let's see how that shakes out.
