Location: Old Broadway
One of the last remaining old-style Knoxville Greek-Italian restaurants. Now that Pero's old building has been bulldozed, I'm really feeling nostalgic for this staple of my youth. One of the few places left that serves liver (but not to me!). In the true Knoxville Greek-Italian tradition, it's at least two restaurants in one. It serves steak and seafood along with a full Italian menu (try the parmegiana), including pizza, and, of course, meat and three at lunch.

Fantastic! Just went yesterday
That place is immaculate! The staff is friendly and the food is fantastic. I was just exploring, not planning on a big meal. I had a grilled cheese sandwich and a Greek salad. The homemade dressing was delicous. Lots of feta too. I can hardly wait to try the Italian dishes. Thanks for mentioning this place.
Count me as NOT a Louis'
Count me as NOT a Louis' fan.
That spaghetti sauce is the worst excuse for marinara (or whatever the hell that brown, greasy mess is) that I'e ever had the misfortune to put in my mouth.
Ugh.
That makes 2 of us. My husband & his family think it's great stuff. I boycotted a few years back after finding roaches in our take out order not once, but twice. Yuk.
Oooh, ick! It looked so clean...
I wonder if you have been there recently. Maybe it cleaned up its act? Roaches are however UNACCEPTABLE! Perhaps I should reconsider my eagerness to try their Italian fare...
Brown geasy sauce
Oh, how disappinting. Thanks for letting me know. I am very fussy about my marinara. Especially when it's brown, though I know some people make something called "rosa" or whatever. I like the rich traditional tomato kind my Aunts used to make. I'm just too lazy or busy to cook my own.
Not the same, but still good
I have been eating at Louis for years, and I think the pasta sauce was actually from Louis II, which was next door to the Original Louis Drive. When the two were next door the pasta sauce was different at each location. It seems everyone I knew liked one sauce or the other, but not both.
I have never had a roach in my food, but there is always the chance my number is close. If I ever do find a roach in my food, and then a second from the same restaurant. The first thing that comes to my mind is, what have I done to deserve this kind of service.
I don't have a problem with Louis, but it's no longer a place I would drive out of my way for. When ever I am in the neighborhood at lunch, it's usually my first choice.
Naw, it's original Louis'
Naw, it's original Louis' sauce that I'm thinking of, although the other Louis' sauce was crappy too.
