This is a really good Bob Clement story, for anyone who might care.

Well, Karl Dean is supported

Well, Karl Dean is supported by every Belle Meade Republican in town. And the Scene, for what it's worth, has had an axe to grind as far as Clement is concerned.

Read with a healthy grain of salt.

I got no dog in that fight,

I got no dog in that fight, but Bobby's no prize. Sad to say I'm old enough to have run across him at UT back in the day (even though I, of course, am much, much younger than he is). The rumor back then was that he couldn't get initiated into his frat because his grades were too bad. He was pretty goldurn dumb.

I thought Karl Dean was Dolly Parton's husband.

Most of what I know about

Most of what I know about Bob Clement is from his days as a TVA board member. He was pretty bad at that job.

Bob

I think Dolly's husband is "Carl" Dean, but I bet Karl Dean could get a few votes by people who think he's Dolly's husband. I think Bob ran a lackluster campaign against Alexander. His daughter was SGA president at UT that year and so afraid of being partisan she wasn't much help for him. I think Lamar won the campus vote.
