On a side note to the discussion on the West's, I've been following NORML news for a while. States much bluer than Tn. have actually made some progress on medical marijuana and there was a NORML fundraiser in Austin last week with Willie Nelson and Asleep at the Wheel and others. You occassionally see bills about medical marijuana that come from Steve Cohen and a couple of others in Tn., but that's it and they don't get anyhwhere. UT had a NORML chapter a couple of years ago until the president moved.
Anyway, what I'm geeting at is that enough is enough of seeing anyone going to jail over anything to do with pot unless you throw the Pfizer and execs in with them. I don't have a dog in the fight any more over pot than I do gay marriage, but I think laws against both exemplify American hypocrisy. I would like to see the medical benefits of marijuana fully explored.
The ironic thing is Democrats with all their freedom loving values and the GOP with all their small gov. values let this go on and a Libertarian can't get elected, so we're stuck. I imagine you heard more about this in the 60's but the laws have only gotten stricter over time and I assume people gave up the fight.

Ron Paul is close to Libertarian
Many years ago in Tejas, Ron Paul was our Libertarian state representative, I think. Now he is running for Pres as a Republican. He has my support.
"benefits of marijuana"
...............................oh! I'm sorry, what were we talking about?
many benefits...
Read here all the chapters in the book, plus if you can prove them wrong its 100k in you bank
my vote is for Ron Paul as well, all others are psychotic warmonger/fearmonger/*^$@**!!!.......
Ron Paul
I've heard some good things about Ron Paul and read some info, it didn't say anything about drugs, but he probably wouldn't be loud about that right now. There is a Paul organization here, they are at the Farmer's Market on the Square most Saturdays. I'm just glad to see some support for anyone around here besides Big Fred.
I'm personally liking Mike
I'm personally liking Mike Gravel and his willingness to discuss anything that's brought up as well as his openness and honesty about drugs.
Please, gods, not Ron Paul again
One of my neighbors has a Ron Paul sign in the yard.
I cross to the other side of the street when I walk past.
Please check out Dave Neiwert's analysis of Paul's background before you drink the Kool-Aid.
This has been a public service announcement by Citizens Scared Sh*tless at the Prospect of Ron Paul Being Elected President.
I started looking at some of
I started looking at some of the racist web sites after our racist visitations in May and June, and I immediately noticed how fond they are of Ron Paul. Seems like a good enough reason to oppose him right there.
info
The info I've read about Paul didn't show anything racist. I'm not that concerned one way or the other,as most likely I'll vote Democratic anyway, I just found his campaign interesting. Its about time any candidates and office holders had a real discussion on drug crimes and prison in general, rather than continually having to build new ones. I would like to see a true Independent candidate emerge that had a chnace of winning. I'm tired of Demo or GOP Kool-Aid.
