That is amazing! I see that

That is amazing! I see that in the mountains near Dahlonega frequently. I rarely get a day when it is worth the effort to carry a camera when cycling to try and get good scenic shots from the top of the gaps.

I swear I saw more sky like the top picture when I was in upstate New York a few summers ago.

It is amazing. The distance

It is amazing. The distance to that white building furthest away (just above the lamp post) is about 3 miles as the crow flies.

It's about 30 miles or so to the farthest ridge visible in the first photo. On a really good day, visibility in the GSMNP is about 100 miles. It's about 10 right now.

Here's a webcam view looking back this way from somewhere around the second ridge of mountains.

It says that ozone is "good" bordering on "moderate", and particulates are "moderate" bordering on "unhealthy".

I'd hate to see (or not see as the case may be) what it looks like on "unhealthy".
