Also, AC has an April Fools show lined up that he says is a must see. In fact, he's putting his money where his mouth is...:

This coming Sunday, April 1, at the Bijou Theatre, at 8:00 p.m. for a mere $24 (less if you are a student).

If you love great music and fine art and outrageous creativity mixed with strong doses of outlandish and often irreverent humor...(and, if you don't, what's wrong with you???)...

DON'T MISS...

From Holland...on their 40th anniversary tour of the United States...direct from playing a Duke Ellington tribute at the Library of Congress the night before...

THE ICP ORCHESTRA

These guys are amazing musicians but they also are incredibly fun and funny.

They'll be playing great jazz arrangements of classics by Ellington and Monk, with nods to Ives and Webern, a touch of waltz and tango and a generous dose of exuberant caterwauling.

The two leading figures in ICP - pianist Misha Mengelberg and drummer Han Bennink - have been two of Europe's most celebrated musicians for nearly half of a century.

A performance by Han Bennink alone is an unforgettable experience. Not merely one of the world's greatest percussionists, Bennink is a Zen Master, clown, shaman, and trickster - all in one. He's one of those rare musicians whose performance can actually change the way you see and experience the world around you.

This is also special for me because one of the many great musicians in the ICP Orchestra is the cellist, Tristan Honsinger. My very first concert presentation in 1979 was Tristan Honsinger alone at the Laurel Theater. It
sold out, and no one who was there has ever been quite the same. He was amazing.

Actually, every member of the ICP Orchestra is a well-known European musician/bandleader in his/her own right.

Some of you old-timers may remember the Willem Breuker Kollektief's zppearances in Knoxville, too. Willem was a founding member of ICP in 1967. You get the picture.

HERE'S THE SCOOP:

I really believe that you will be thoroughly entertained by this show... I really want YOU to see it... I think you'll be blown away and have a really great time at the magnificent Bijou Theatre... so...

I will personally refund your ticket OR purchase you a ticket to another Bijou show (of the same price or less), if you take time out of your busy schedule and come to the Bijou to see the ICP Orchestra and fail to enjoy yourself.

I've never done this before... I may never do it again... so take me up on
it!!!

Is it THAT El-P? I figured

Is it THAT El-P? I figured it was some Elvish hip-hopper or something.

You are very astute, Mr.

You are very astute, Mr. Neal. THis El-P is indeed a hip-hopper, not the ELP of "Lucky Man" and Tarkus fame.

Thanks for posting this. I especially hope that folks will check out the wild and wacky ICP Orchestra and take me up on my offer. It'll cure what ails you. Sort of like a poo-poo cushion in the middle of a sermon.

Followed the links, it's not

Followed the links, it's not ELP or an Elvish hip-hopper, but it is a hip-hopper:

(Or were you kidding?)

You know what's insidious about April Fool's Day?

I read this post and assumed there wouldn't be really be a concert at all.

Yeah, kidding. Thinking about seeing the ICP Orch, though. Sounds like fun.

Now that's something Walker can sink his teeth into.
