A Tennessee writer took photos of every county courthouse in the state and posted them on his Tennessee history website. His website is designed for kids, but it's fun for all ages.

The AP wrote up a nice article about it. KNS has the article here. The courthouse website is here. Cool project!

It would be super cool if people could submit courthouse history and information.

Surprising that the pic of the Rhea County courthouse isn't a little more vibrant, considering its place in history.

Oh well.

That is a neat project, and I thought the same thing about the Rhea county courthouse. Here are some pictures I took there earlier this year. Dayton makes for a nice daytrip.

Trivia on the Blount and Washington courthouses. Melissa and I got our marriage license in Blount County, and got married in Washington County (Jonesborough, to be exact). We filled out our paperwork in Blount and wandered around the courthouse waiting for the confirmation to come back from Nashville.

While we were wandering we found a display that said the current courthouse was built after the previous two downtown courthouses burned. The design won a national award. Shortly after that the Washington County courthouse burned, and they asked Blount if they could re-use their basic design, which is why the courthouses are so similar.

Compare here and here.

I have to say that the picture of the Blount courthouse doesn't do it justice.

Hey, Les, why don't we just call each other assholes and get it over with. - Somebody on the old Southknoxbubba.net (if that was you, claim your quote and win net.fame!)
