Rudy Giuliani recently praised George Bush and compared the treatment he has received in the press with that once given to Winston Churchill.
He said, "It doesn't matter what the media does to ridicule him or misinterpret him or defeat him. They ridiculed Winston Churchill. They belittled Ronald Reagan."
But remember the words of another famous New Yorker, Carl Sagan, "But the fact that some geniuses were laughed at does not imply that all who are laughed at are geniuses. They laughed at Columbus, they laughed at Fulton, they laughed at the Wright brothers. But they also laughed at Bozo the Clown."

Oooo....I like it. But
Oooo....I like it.
But putting W in the same breath with Churchill?... Rudy??? Are you trying to make McCain look like an honest guy?
Bozos.
Bush has compared himself to
Bush has compared himself to FDR, Churchill and Abe Lincoln, and said that God talks to him personally and told him to invade Iraq. Giuliani is going along with the program.
Here's the thing I will never forget about Giuliani. During the '04 convention, he gave a speech and said he was on the streets of NYC on 9/11, making his way to the scene, watched one of the towers fall, and as debris was falling down around him he grabbed the arm of the guy with him (police chief?) and said "Thank God George Bush is president!"
I call bullshit. But even if he isn't lying and in fact said such an absurd thing at that time in those circumstances, I'm not sure which is worse.
The 911 terrorists saved
The 911 terrorists saved Rudy's political career. His wife and his mistress were both residing in Gracie Mansion, and his credibility was in the toilet until that September 11 (Can't wait to see how these 'family values' Republicans will spin Rudy's personal life should he be nominated). We look for heroes in times of national crisis, and both he and Bush were huge beneficiaries of the outpouring of grief, rage and fear that followed the attacks. In fairness, I'd have to concede that Bill Clinton's numbers skyrocketed after Oklahoma City, when he played comforter-in-chief to the nation.
...he grabbed the arm of the
This apocryphal story was told in support of the nomination of Bernie Kerik to head the Dept. of Homeland Security, I believe.

Giuliani named a jail after Bernie...Has anyone ever served time in their own jail before? But there's no "News" here...just more corrupt Republicans lying to cover each other's rear. Investigations are still going on, I see...
I'm pretty sure he also told
I'm pretty sure he also told during his convention speech leading up to the 04 Bush nomination. I believe he even mentioned "as he watched people jumping from the towers" or something like that.
