A friend of mine received an unintentionally hilarious flyer in the mail from the Tennessee GOP today. Here's the cover:

The inside content is after the jump. See how the Dems are preventing the government from intercepting all those calls from Tennessee to Al Qaeda (on rotary phones, no less). It's priceless.
Here's the inside content:

I think the "paperwork" referenced above are those pesky search warrants that the God-fearing Republican terrorist fighters would have to go before a judge to get, but I'm not entirely sure.
The reference to the airliners plot is probably the "plot" that shut down Heathrow for several days involving liquid explosives which turned out not to have been a real plot after all.
Doesn't terrorism mean "using fear to sway opinion for political gain"? Isn't that what Republicans are doing?

Someone please tell me this is just a bad dream
Things are getting more and more stupid.
Brian A.
I'd rather be cycling.
Yep, the effectiveness of
Yep, the effectiveness of Republican common-sense programs is exactly why Osama bin Laden - who masterminded the largest and most successful terrorist plot in U.S. history - is safely behind bars.
Right? Right???
Dick - is that you on the other line?
I can't help but think they're probably listening in to random calls from Tennessee to me in the UK!
And they can find out all about how the Vols are doing (code for suicide bombers)and what's going on in Lawrenceburg (code for training camp). And what's growing in my mom's garden (code for financial contributions).
Yep, wouldn't want the Dems to stop that.

Did they catch him?
Did they catch him?" Nope,
Did they catch him?"
Nope, that happens after SoDamInsane is found guilty around the end of next week!
Interesting that you have
Interesting that you have the inside information on this Republican conspiracy.
I now see that this has all been a brilliant maneuver by Republicans to save America.
If they catch Osama this will prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that it is definitely a Republican Conspiracy, based on your knowlege that a conspiracy is in the works. If they don't catch Osama, it wil prove conclusively that the Republicans are so incompetent that they can't even run their own evil conspiracies anymore.
If they don't catch Osama and Democrats are elected...There is good news for America in that the laws the Republican conspirators have put in place will allow us to round all of the
Republicansconspirators up, imprison andtortureinterogate them in a foreign country without access to the court system, lawyers, and the press so that America will even be saved from knowing that Republicans are evil conspirators as well as how stupid and incompetent they are. This will be good for the Republicans legacy so if you ARE a Republican, the only thing you can do to save yourself is to vote Democratic...
Coach, you are brilliant! I'm sorry I hadn't seen this until now. Did you think up this plan to save the Republican Party all by yourself?

A few questions
If they are not routinely monitoring, then how do they know a terrorist is on the line?
What happens if Osama mistakenly punches a wrong digit and calls you instead?
Saddam Hussein? They might want to hang on to him in case he is needed to restore order in Iraq and to counterbalance Iran.
Will Osama finally be pulled out of the freezer soon?
Oops, forgot one question
Who is doing the data mining on Democrats' phone records to sex hotlines? You know-- the ones with charges of $1.25?
Them dang dangerous democrats!
Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear.
Harry S Truman, August 8, 1950

Great line by Truman, but I bet even he never anticipated a voice as loud as the internets.
Also keep in mind those
Also keep in mind those pesky search warrants that would cause the "paperwork" can be obtained retroactively. For you trolls out there, that means we can tap the lines get our our information and obtain the warrant afterwards. It's a simple case of checks and balances by the judiciary on the executive, I thought that was a good thing? I know Republicans will fight tooth and nail for this to be back in place the day after a Democrat enters the Oval Office again.
I love me some hypocrites.
