Vandy beats Georgia at Georgia for their homecoming game.

It's upset day in the SEC. Go VOLS! We got this.

(Even though nearly our entire staring defensive line is out. Second string is good to go and will get it done.)

We got beat.

By a better team. We are at least two good recruiting years behind these guys. Our injuries from earlier in the season and lack of depth and speed did us in. We need depth. We don't have it. We will build it. The sun will rise in the morning and we will get better.

Its time to rethink the third Saturday in october

Seriously. I know, tradition and all that. It made perfect sense playing Alabama every year when the Sec was a unitary conference. But now that its split into two divisions,Tennessee handicaps itself every year by continuing this tradition. No other team in the East does this, and its a continuing drag on the program.

If Florida had to play Alabama this year then its likely that Tennessee would win the East. But they don't. Because tradition. So even though we finally beat Florida they are now in the drivers seat in the east. Because tradition.

Alabama is a semi-pro program, and as long as we chain ourselves to this tradition we are starting almost every season 0-1. I'd be fine with this as long as Florida and Georgia were in the same position but they don't handicap themselves thus.

In future we should simply schedule 2 Sec west games a year. Sometimes Alabama but not always. We're killing ourselves with tradition.
