Trump is the biggest joke since you guys nominated Charlie Brown.

Going anyhow

I am a Sanders supporter, but I am going to see Trump. For one thing, it's a moment in history. For another, I think we have a responsibility to see the real deal in person when we have a chance, regardless of our preconceived notions. Do I think my mind will be changed? No, I think he's a rich buffoon. I can't imagine anything he would say that would make him appealing in any way, shape or form. Do I think I might learn something? Always!

But if you don't learn anything...

...you can always read a book!

Worth a ticket to see the Republican establishment in a twit

Team Haslam has already thrown all in for Jeb! and all their minions have been dictated to fall in line which they will do or loose their revenue stream from Team Haslam.

The Trump event was booked, scheduled, and organized completely without any input, involvement, or responsibility from the state or local Republican establishment, yet all the minions from Team Haslam are already making up excuses for being there, much to the concern of the heavy hand or the Republican establishment. Their grandkids want to go, their neighbor needs a ride, my customers/constituency will be there, I need to be there, they're squirming and spinning so they can justify their presence when they mug for the cameras and fall under the review of Team Haslam.

It's a historic event, this is the first indication that the Republican establishment in Knoxville can't control all of the conservative and independent voters anymore, they can always control the local elections, but they can't control the statewide races anymore, Jeb! might be at 5 percent, but he couldn't fill the Knoxville Convention Center without twisting arms, calling in favors, and demanding accountability from those within their sphere of influence.

Get your popcorn ready.

But when the President of the United States visited Nashville they "had to clean grout in their shower" and couldn't be there.

A large part of Trump's

A large part of Trump's appeal to Republican voters is that he cannot be controlled by the party establishment. Every week they (and the media) predict his flameout, and every week he gets stronger. I'm not a fan, but Trump and Carson's rise shows how disaffected the party base is from the establishment.

Same thing goes for Bernie Sanders actually. When it all shakes out it will probably be Hillary Vs. Rubio, with voters staying home in droves.

Somebody's picture

Dang.

I have a scheduling conflict. I have to be anywhere but there.

Let's see if Haslam says no to Syrian refugees

(although most are resettled to Memphis and Nashville, not Knoxville or East Tennessee), while nobody expects Rogero or Burchette to take Knoxville or Knox County off the United Nations city of refuge list, it's probably a topic that should be debated by the local politicians, instead of throwing money at a pile of rocks and Regal Cinemas.

Today I’m asking the federal government to suspend placements in Tennessee until states can become more of a partner in the vetting process.”

Bill Haslam -- about 5 minutes ago

Yes, because Tennessee would

Yes, because Tennessee would do an exponentially better job vetting them than the State Dept., the CIA, the NSA, the FBI, etc. He could just outsource it to CCA.

Medicine, health care,

Medicine, health care, education, immigration, economy, brain surgery, national security, etc. No problem. It has been proven, a smaller, less informed entity with fewer resources and experience is the way to go. Heck some of us have a lot of money. We can do anything.

Don't shoot

the messenger.

just had a phone call saying the streets are packed downtown for The Donald.

Daniels wondered into making

Daniels wondered into making it into the race by virtue of his last name and a pathetically crippled (D) party.

Daniels had no popular support. That in no way compares to Trump.

It's a 'joke' to people who probably think that practically anyone the party throws out there is a joke. In parlance we refer to these people as members of the media, academia, and Hollywood.

Let them chuckle. We have our own things to laugh about.

Obama, Nov 12: "ISIS is contained." Nice call.

They had to take the hook the 92-year-old non-voter-turned-Trump-supporter. Everybody's a star…

Somebody's picture

5000?

There were only 5,000 people in the crowd? You know some significant percentage of those were just there for the spectacle. That's reminiscent of the time Sarah Palin couldn't draw a crowd in Sevier County, or the time Glenn Beck couldn't fill a venue here. Stick a fork in him, because Trump is done.

R. Neal's picture

WATE was reporting 12,000.

WATE was reporting 12,000. Quite a discrepancy.

Oh my...

that is priceless. Haha!

Was that for real

or was it photo shopped? I've not seen that pic anywhere else.

Rachel's picture

Not photoshopped. I know

Not photoshopped. I know folks who saw it. Somebody pointed it out to the Trump team, who then replaced it with a generic Trump sign.

Dahlia's picture

Haha

Even better that someone had to point it out to them.

Factchecker's picture

Sorry I just saw this. Yes, I

Sorry I just saw this. Yes, I found it on "social media" and later wondered if it had been 'shopped, especially since I saw another pic later of Trump speaking behind a different sign. Rachel provides a good explanation.

Sure, that wouldn't be the worst thing about a Trump presidency, but I'm afraid it speaks to his core competency and reflects on his base. They probably don't care. I would.

Roscoe Persimmon's picture

Interesting selection, why Knoxville for a pep rally?

Bloomberg stringers were reporting a crowd of 9,500, but why Knoxville for a red meat talk about radical islam rally?

(link...)

The basement of the convention center was 70 percent occupied, an interesting evening, local party and elected officials were no where to be found at Trump on the Stump.

Typo

People make mistakes.

In the unfortunate event Trump were elected, if a typo is the biggest mistake he or his staff makes then I would be relieved.
