Just as businesses are finishing up migrating millions of PCs off XP, Microsoft announced they are ending "mainstream" support for Windows 7 (and Server 2008) in January. They will provide "extended" support (security fixes) for five more years after that, but no product or feature updates. CNet has more details...

Ugh.

As a Mac user at home, and on the work desktop, this doesn't bother me much. As a sysadmin for several Server 2008 R2 products and a Hyper-V system whose host OS is also 2008 R2, this does nothing for me but induce angst.
