Official Misconduct

Within the last few days it was brought to the attention of Governor Haslam that TDEC inspection records may have been falsified. TDEC inspection reports on exit 412 in Jefferson County has been changed. No problems were reported where 100's of tons of material had been dumped on the state right of way. An oil sheen was found in the stream, but the locations where it was found was changed. TDOT is suspected of falsified soil tests at the site and refuses to release the chain of custody work sheet from the lab.

The TDOT officials who lost their job were involved in approving a Stimulus Grant to bankrupt Mountain Plaza. The owner of Mountain Plaza had a criminal record that was deleted from TBI files prior to his Stimulus Grant application being forwarded to EPA.
