The Mrs. and I finally made it over to Frussie's Sandwich Shoppe in South Knoxville. She had a Reuben and I had a hot Pastrami and Swiss, and they were both really excellent, as were the potato salad and cookies.
And bonus we finally got to meet Eric Lykins in person, but business was good and he was hustling to get out orders so we didn't get to talk much. When we got there at around 12:30 there was a line at the counter and almost all the tables were full.
So anyway, get yourself over to Frussie's at 133 E. Moody Ave. in South Knoxville for as good a deli sandwich as you will find anywhere in town (M-F 11AM-6PM). Trust me. In fact, stop by on your way home and get takeout for dinner. They will be open until 6PM or 7PM. (You can call 577-2108 to check.) Support this fine local small business startup establishment, and tell them KnoxViews sent you.

You two showed up at the end of a pretty long line as the equipment was reaching capacity. We thought we rocked lunch pretty hard Monday and Tuesday, but Friday's rush came late and hard after we had given up on expecting one (at least no one has had to take a number in this modern era yet). We already need a bigger "toaster" and a third steamer (there were 3, but the landlord sold the best one while the building was empty and we found out that those things aren't cheap when we had to repair what was previously James' backup steamer).
Alexandra's mom Lydia is talking about kimmelweck rolls and profiteroles (cream puffs to the new fans of old world recipes out there) for Monday and I'm repeating it here in public, so I hope she's not teasing us.
