Nothing says freedom and liberty and Lipton tea like harassing people attempting to vote. Ayn Rand and John Galt and Ron Paul and Glenn Reynolds and Glenn Beck and Rush are all probably busting out proud right now.

Folks in that part of New

Folks in that part of New York State are pretty beaten down: Poor and unemployed. My experience with it is that the local state university ran a job search for an assistant professor position in geography for 2 years before getting a placement. Nothing wrong with the school. It's just a tough place to live. Cold and remote. Ottawa, ON is closer than Syracuse and NYC is a 6+ hour drive. Factoid: US11 runs through the district up to its terminus near the Quebec border.
